SACRIFICE

by Deonna Lucas

What is a sacrifice? My NIV Bible says a sacrifice is an offering of something valuable to God.  The definition of sacrifice that I came up with is to not do something that you would normally do or that you like to do because of your love for someone else.  In other words, to deny yourself.

Did you know that God gave us the greatest sacrifice ever?

Do you know who that sacrifice was? His name is JESUS?

If you don’t believe me the proof is right here.  In the word, turn to John 3:16.  It says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

So GOD, the creator, loved us, the creation, so much, that he sacrificed, his only begotten son (Jesus). You know the wonderful, the counselor, the prince of peace, mighty GOD,  everlasting father, the only begotten, the great I am, the son of the living God so that we may have everlasting life!

Now I call that the perfect sacrifice!!!

How many of you know that we can make sacrifices back to God?

Romans 12:1-2  “I beseech you therefore brethren,  by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Paul said we should offer our bodies a living and holy sacrifice unto God.  Remember God requires our sacrifices to be holy from the top of our head to the soul of our feet.  God requires holiness. That means our feet shouldn’t go places God doesn’t want them to go. Our hands shouldn’t touch things God wouldn’t want them to touch. Our hearts shouldn’t be filled with thing that’s not like God. And of course our minds should be the same mind that is in Christ Jesus.

Therefore, the sacrifices you give back to God is not to God if God didn’t order your steps. Don’t touch it if it’s unclean. Allow God to pierce your heart with the double edge sword of the word. Another sacrifice you can make is if it’s not in his mind, then it can’t be in my mind.  Let me say that one more time, if its not in GOD’s  mind, it can’t stay in my mine!

So if a sacrifice is giving God something that’s important to you, what have you sacrificed?  Think about it!
